To take your swing you should be very focused with nothing allowed to distract you. Your grip on the club should be very comfortable for you, with just enough pressure to allow the club settle in your hand.
If the grip is too tight then you are far too tense and will not make a good strike on the ball. If it is too loose then it will move in your hand causing you to go into the rough, or out of bounds.
